Every in America day we enjoy the freedom that we celebrate but once a year. Every day freely lived is freely lived on the blood, sweat, and tears of the women and men who let their military service determine the trajectory of their lives so that each of us could freely choose the trajectory of ours.
So as we celebrate today the freedom that was won, let us also remember what was lost. Remembering the fallen heroes of the past is a whisper in our present that our future freedom isn’t free. And all the men and women who serve across the globe today are paying the continuing price for freedom.
What can we say but thank you…THANK you…THANK YOU!
So we can enjoy the freedom that we have, knowing that it was bought at a steep price. We can revel a bit and have fun…with a deep and abiding backdrop of appreciation and the hope that this costly, precious freedom…will not perish from sea to shining sea…and beyond.
