It comes as no surprise that Brett Favre has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And as a Packer, he can be about as proud as any to have his jersey retired and his bronze bust in Canton. Congratulations Brett, we are proud to call you one of ours.
You bled green and gold for so many years and endured injury and heartache making each game special and giving us a chance to win every time you took the field. We in Packernation have been blessed to have so many great players and you, sir, are certainly one of them.
I had the honor of having a quote of mine published in Tom Kertscher’s book, “Brett Favre: A Packer Fan’s Tribute” 3rd ed. and I am going to repeat it here now because I believe it just as much now as I did then. The most memorable moment in my remembrance of Brett Favre:
`”When Brett threw the touchdown pass to Andre Rison in Super Bowl XXXI, he ran off the field with a smile on his face and his helmet held aloft. The memory of the touchdown gives me chills. But seeing Brett’s face after the touchdown reminds me that I, like all Packers fans, felt I knew Brett as a person, and was with him through triumph and tragedy on the field and off. I can also see the number 4 over Brett’s heart. I will remember how it identified the man who played the game with more heart than anyone I have ever seen.”
So what is your top memory of Brett Favre? Feel free to share it in the comments below or back on the Facebook fanpage. Give Brett a big “Thanks” and “Congrats” as he takes his place among the many Packers legends.
Go Pack!
