Packers fans are disappointed tonight but the war is not yet lost…this is just the first game of the season. From here on out, the important thing is to improve and begin to shape ourselves into the Packers team that fans everywhere believe we can be. In the midst of a disappointing loss…we have to take a look at some of the good things we saw on the field today.
Glimpses of a defense that makes a difference?
We saw some good things from Clay Matthews, who seemed like the ONLY player on the defense at times tonight. We need more than that though. Nick Perry had some on and off good plays and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, after an abysmal game…made a single solo tackle that was fun to watch. Brad Jones was awful and we saw little of the Matthews/Peppers combo that we were all so excited to see. The defensive line continually showed that they could not make a tackle in the backfield and Guion was a sad replacement for BJ Raji.
Multiple injuries at right tackle will make it difficult…
The Packers saw Brian Bulaga once again go out with injury. How many Packers fans feel good about an offensive line that will have Derek Sherrod as the starter? Not many. Sherrod was a first round pick in 2011 and has been little more than a sideline fixture since. The only thing worse…apparently…is having him on the field. Sherrod gave up a safety while (thankfully) recovering the ball in the endzone.
A comedy of errors…
The Packers defense showed some good things at times (when not negated by stupid penalties) but when they did…the offense could not capitalize. The offense got their act together here and there…but when they did the defense gave up the points they scored. Through it all… as expected…the special teams gave up so many yards…well…too many to count.
Win the North…get back in it
But the Packers need to focus on getting healthy, gelling on defense and taking care of business in the NFC North because there is no rest for the weary on this one. The Packers face every other team in the division in the next four weeks and these games will be crucial for their chances down the stretch.
Don’t give up Packernation. We have some things to fix, but it is the first game of the season. It is not time to panic. We still have good things ahead of us.
GO PACK!!!
The defense is still awful. They won’t go anywhere under Capers..
Let’s go Packers. I still believe in you baby let’s go. Go Pack Go. Your fan Kristiana Smith
Go Pack. I live and breath packers nation. I gave the wrong website. I do apologize. We can do this. Let’s bring the win! We can do better…
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED
Defense did not have the NASTY that has been built up all summer. Jones, well enough said. Bring back Pickett and Jolly to plug the middle.
The Packers shot themselves in the foot on this one. It was a hard fought battle in the first half which could have gone in the Packers favors if it weren’t for all the miscues and stupid penalties. Injuries also were a big deal but they seem to be unavoidable, like most Packer’s seasons. The Packer’s line created no holes for lacy or starks and allowed for Rodgers to be under duress the entire game. Overall mediocre game by the Packers. Its a hard place to play and they didn’t help themselves at all.
What issues were addressed from last year, no reliable backup at right tackle means Rodgers life is in danger, send Sherrod to Canada! Hawk and Jones are
still not reliable at linebacker. Will be interesting to see what the brain wizards will do to remedy the situation, could be tough to get out of the division!!!!!
Have you ever seen Hawk make a good play? Me neither.
