RIP: Mike McCarthy’s Brother Dead at 47

mike conferenceWe in Packernation feel the pain of defeat with our team like no other fan-base in the NFL. We know that our head coach Mike McCarthy was already hurting when he received even worse news…that his brother Joseph McCarthy III had collapsed unexpectedly and passed.

Coach…we in Packernation are sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad and difficult time. May family, close friends and warm memories be of some comfort to you as you mourn. We in Packernation are saddened by this…we will be sending warm thoughts your way.

There is no trite catchphrase or little magic wand that we can wave to make what you are going through easier but we can only say, “We are with you” through it. And in spirit…we are.

Coach McCarthy, I am so very, very sorry for you and your family over the loss of your dear brother, Joe! No matter when we lose a loved one it is difficult. Losing someone so young is even more difficult to understand. I lost my Dad when I was 15, he was 47, and my Mom was left to raise 5 of us, all younger than myself. Somehow, even though you can’t begin to comprehend this now, life will go on and with each passing day your memories will ease your pain. His spirit will always be with you, just look for the signs that he is near!!

McCarthy said, “If he had it all over to do again, he would not change a thing.” Isn’t that the definition of insanity to do the same thing and expect different results? Why does he feel he does not have to hold himself accountable? It’s arrogant and more importantly tells me he is NOT learning from his mistakes. No one worth their salt like mediocrity and we have a coach who is. He is a “Tollbooth” collector responsible for the greatest collapse in Packer history. I know if I failed that miserably, I would lose my job. Why Ted, does he get to keep his? I wonder what the final would have been had Lombardi been coaching? 45-10?

McCarthy needs to go…just like Fox in Denver. They are responsible for achieving the highest honor, winning the Super Bowl. Central division titles are not the goal around here and McCarthy is not a winner. Until Thompson has the courage to make a statement that we don’t settle for anything less than a shot to win the Super Bowl, talent will go wasted, salaries won’t provide their payback, and the Lombardi Trophy will not be coming home for a long while. However, Mike should we be smart enough to act and fire you, when you ask us shareholders “Why?” we know what we will say to you….”That is for you to figure out.” Fire McCarthy.

Coach, the loss of your brother is heartbreaking news. A person of your integrity and professionalism has become this individual partly because of loving family. That part of your brother will remain in you. May God’s peace be with you at this time.
