Today is the day when Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers step up and take what Packers fans know belongs to us…the NFC Championship and a shot at Super Bowl XLIX! When they don’t give you a chance…folks…you TAKE ONE! This is the day, the time is now, the game is at hand.
The reckoning begins this afternoon and the stakes could not be higher. If the Patriots win the AFC, the Packers would with a win face a team they have already beaten. This game against the Seahawks could very well be the more difficult contest. And so it is time for all the blood, sweat, and tears to come to fruition in another Packers NFC Championship.
Aaron Rodgers
The biggest story-line of this entire game is Aaron Rodgers and his mending-but-not-right calf muscle. There is a lot of talk about how Aaron was inaccurate in the first half of the Cowboys game. Yet nobody seems to notice that he was on fire in the second half and NOBODY has the common sense to see that Aaron now knows what the pitfalls are and will be better equipped to be accurate start to finish in this afternoon’s game.
Aaron may not have to do it all in this game. If another important factor in today’s offense gets going…this may be a very different kind of Packers game with a very different hero.
Eddie Lacy
Weather conditions will be a factor in today’s game. Not just the rain but there has been some heavy gusting winds which mean that this is the game for Eddie Lacy to show that the Hulk can beat down the beast any day of the week and twice on Sundays!
Out of the pistol and shotgun formations, Eddie is going to have a good view of what is going on at the line of scrimmage and if he can see a seam (likely to be smaller than against the Cowboys) he can get positive yards and balance the attack. Eddie has been racking up hundred yard games since before the end of the season and if he even gets close to that in this game, it bodes very well for us. Eddie didn’t get to finish the game in week one…and so I’ve got two words for you Eddie…HULK SMASH!!!
The offensive line
There is no question in my mind what the biggest difference in this game is…the offensive line. Assuming Bulaga plays the whole game, that in and of itself makes a huge difference. But the fact that Corey Linsley now has an entire season under his belt is just as important. I just love the attitude that Linsley has and he has fit in perfectly with Lang and Sitton. This offensive line is the key ingredient in a Packers win today and they know it. If they protect Aaron Rodgers, the calf injury becomes a non-issue. If they open holes for Eddie Lacy…this team goes to the Super Bowl.
So to me, the onus of this particular game is going to fall on the offensive line and I think they will be up to the challenge today. But what do you think? What is the most important offensive key to this game? Let me know in the comments below or comment on the Facebook fanpage.
